Educational and Teaching Background
This will be my 23rd year teaching. I worked in SLPS during my first five years of teaching and the rest have been here at Wyland Elementary School. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho, in Moscow Idaho in 2002.  After I graduated I moved to St. Louis and completed my student teaching in the Parkway School District. After teaching for two years, I went to college part-time to earn my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 2007. Since then I have earned 30 more credits by taking courses from SLU and UMSL. These courses focused on math instruction, as well as how to empower students to be in charge of their learning and their behavior through a variety of strategies that build confidence, community, and trust in the classroom setting.

Family
I have two boys! My oldest son Myles is twelve years old and will be going into the seventh grade this year. He loves playing the guitar, listening to music, playing Fortnite, and entertaining his friends and family.  He is very funny and very creative and he loves encouraging others to believe in themselves. He also takes good care of his younger brother.

My younger son Oliver is eight years old and will be going into 3rd grade this year, just like you! He loves reading chapter books, using his kinetic sand, and creating inventions and games out of craft materials.  He also likes to play Minecraft and soccer with his brother. Last year my third graders enjoyed playing two math games he created using dice and papers with numbers on them.
