Spirit Program
This is a state-funded program provided through the National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse - St. Louis area (NCADA). The goal of SPIRIT is to enhance what teaches and parents are already doing to reduce a young person's risk of involvement with alcohol and other drugs. SPIRIT will develop the skills and attitudes that will help students make positive , healthy choices. This program uses the Second Step curriculum with 4th and 5th graders. It is an evidence based curriculum published by the Committee for Children.
Students will participate in this program starting in September and ending in February.
There will be opportunities during this period for family involvement. Throughout this school year there will be activity sheets sent home. We ask that as a family, you complete the activity and have your child return it to school.
If there any questions regarding this program, Jenny Mullen, Prevention Specialist for NCADA may be reached at 314-664-7550.
